TO LIVE FROM THE LAND

An ode to farmers and small-scale sustainable farming in India, and to the possibility of living in closer relationship with the land that feeds us. It reflects on where our food comes from, the labour behind it, and the importance of supporting local farmers and food systems wherever we live.

The work imagines a simple, almost utopian way of eating, one rooted in local cultivation, closer connection between those who grow food and those who consume it. Rather than presenting sustainability as an ideal distant from everyday life, it considers it as something that can begin with how and where we choose to eat

Six photographic images are transferred onto jute and sewn onto agricultural jute sacks.Traditionally used to store and transport crops, the sacks carry a direct connection to farming, harvest, and the movement of food from the land to our homes. As a natural and biodegradable material, jute also becomes a symbol of more sustainable forms of production and consumption.
